NARKED RECORDS is proud to announce the release of “PILOT”, the first single by THE GROOVE PROJECT

The current lineup of the musical group, fronted by GRAMMY® Award nominated Artist, Producer and Songwriter ARUN SHENOY and acclaimed producer MATTHEW SHELL, also features pianist LONNIE PARK, saxophonist MARCUS MITCHELL and 4 other instrumentalists.

Working on a concept album about man’s fascination with flight, the inspiration for the debut single, “Pilot” comes from the popular quote by author and speaker Michael Althusser:

The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the Pilot.”×

On this new record, produced by Matthew Shell & Arun Shenoy, the group has chosen to take a production direction leaning more towards the Smooth Jazz style, with each member of the group bringing a unique perspective to the music to craft a sound that is fresh and groovy, with a healthy dose of sunshine.

“We are very excited with the release of this single and plan to release a new single every month culminating in the release of a full length Smooth Jazz album in the summer of 2020” Shenoy notes, as he muses on the album theme and his dream to take up recreational flying as a hobby very soon.

The single has been released on 07/31 in digital format with the distribution handled by DashGo. Radio promotion is being handled by Neal Sapper at New World N Jazz Marketing and Publicity and Marketing by Beth Hilton at The B Company

About Arun Shenoy

ARUN SHENOY burst onto the international stage out of relative obscurity with a GRAMMY® Award nomination at the 55th Annual GRAMMY® Awards for his debut Flamenco world fusion production titled RUMBADOODLE in 2012.

BLISS”, Shenoyʼs follow up single from his Indian World Fusion project was launched by the Recording Academy via a Worldwide Exclusive First Look at GRAMMY.com in 2013. His second full length record A STAGEY BANK AFFAIR (2016) was chosen as Album of the Year by Jazziz Magazine’s Critics Pick and dubbed “an explosive, exotic, jazz-funk-rock-barn burner” by noted American journalist and reviewer, Jonathan Widran.

Shenoy released an EP in 2018 titled THE UNPLUGGED SONGWRITER SESSIONS in collaboration with THE MAVERICK EXPRESS, a rolling roster of musicians comprised largely of Shenoy’s long term collaborators.  On this album, for the first time, Shenoy introduces a more intimate singer-songwriter facet of his art, a dramatic shift from the large-scale contemporary jazz and world productions he is best known for internationally.

He shuffled the GROOVE PROJECT in early 2019 into the current 8 man musical group.
